Our Volunteering

Volunteering with us means entering a new cultural context with openness, respect, and curiosity. You support the local team, spend time with the children, and experience daily life in Arusha while also learning from the community and the children themselves.

When is the right time?

Whether during your studies, a gap year, or time abroad, volunteering at MILELO gives you the chance to be part of a school community and contribute your time, energy, and ideas in a meaningful way.

Become a volunteer

Your Tasks

flexible and based on your strengths and interests

Support local teachers in the classroom
(no independent teaching without qualifications)

Help children during lessons, exercises, and daily routines

Assist during lunch and break times

Lead or support creative activities (sports, arts, music, games, storytelling)

Help prepare materials and keep classrooms organized

Support small school projects and improvements

Assist with social media, photos/videos, or fundraising

Contribute your own ideas and skills

General Conditions

Recommended stay: at least 3–4 weeks
Around 5 working hours per day
3 days off per month
Volunteer contract and safety briefing before arrival
Openness, reliability, and respect are important
Experience with children is helpful, but not required

How to become a Volunteer?

Fill out the form and tell us about yourself and your motivation

2. Call

We will arrange a phone or video call to get to know each other

3. Formalities

You will receive a safety briefing and a volunteering contract

4. Go

We guide you through the VISA application and you are good to go
