Bettina

"Seeing the children, we‘ve been working for and with for the last year, in person, was very moving for me. Getting to know the person behind the name and seeing, how thankful and excited the children are, to be able to go to school made it very clear, how special and important the MILELO-School is for this children but also for their families. It makes our work so unbelievably worth it. The whole team and staff there, the parents who help, everyone is so happy for this project, happy to be there and part of it and happy for every helping hand!"

"My time volunteering at MILELO turned my sabbatical trip to Tanzania into a truly personal and meaningful experience. From teaching the children songs and dances and helping them improve their English to simply sitting together at lunchtime with the teachers, fellow volunteers, and local community members, talking about the school’s future and exchanging thoughts about our cultures - every moment was incredibly enriching and unforgettable. And by the way, I still miss Mama Africa’s food!"

"Volunteering at MILELO School during my sabbatical has been a deeply grounding and purposeful experience. Despite having traveled widely, living and working here has taken me far outside my comfort zone in the best possible way. The team on the ground is exceptional, and witnessing the direct impact that even small efforts can have on the children makes this a truly meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime experience."

"Spending two days at MILELO School during our trip to Tanzania was one of the absolute highlights of the journey. Drawing, singing, sharing meals, and playing with the children showed me firsthand how much joy learning brings to them. Seeing the direct impact that basic access to education and support has on these kids and their families was deeply humbling. It made me realize that even a short stay can leave a lasting impression—not just on the project, but especially on myself. I returned home with a full heart and unforgettable memories."

The children’s joy in learning, their laughter, singing, and playing deeply moved me. Experiencing how much education and even a warm meal can impact everyday life reminded me of what truly matters in life. In the end, this visit gave me more than I could give myself: genuine encounters, new perspectives, and the realization that even small gestures can make a difference. I returned with many wonderful memories.

„My visit to Milelo School was an unforgettable experience. The children are incredibly curious and eager to learn – a level of enthusiasm I have never experienced before. It was a great joy to watch them learn and to support them during my time there. This experience will stay with me for a long time. I truly hope that one day I will have the chance to come back and see how the children have grown. I am sure that each of them will find their own path and achieve great things. I wish them all the very best for their future.“

"My time at Milelo School was a wonderful experience and has enriched me personally. Seeing the difficult circumstances the children come from has made me realise just how privileged I am. I am glad that I was able to spend two months with the children and witness how they continue to develop and learn every day. The MILELO team in Arusha is very warm and dedicated to ensuring that the children have a better future through their school education."
